A New Beginning
The transition between high school and college was not as difficult as I initially thought. At the beginning of college I had no idea of who I was, or what I wanted to do. Now, I have a clear set of goals planned ahead of me. I want to be in the business field of marketing and a possible concentration in pharmaceuticals. This will be difficult to accomplish but now I have a purpose and an understanding of what to aim for in the coming years.
Sophomore Slump?
Entering my Sophomore year I was highly anxious as to continue my studying, that I did not focus much on my resume. So when the new year came, I made it a goal to become a little more professional. I became a writing tutor because it enables me to teach other people and helps improve my communication skills. It was quite frustrating dealing with some students, but it taught me to have some patience; when a student succeeds, you feel that happiness with them.
With my goal being pharmaceutical sales/management I wanted to get into some marketing field or internship. So, I found Embeem Inc. and I loved every second of the internship. It was a fast-paced work environment, with great people to work with. I learned more about the marketing field, the different kinds of marketing tools, and I even got to shadow one of the sales team members. The internship taught me so much about time management, and resilience. There were times when some sales representatives would not be responsive, so I had to learn how to bounce back from disappointments and channel it into my winning spirit. Overall my sophomore year was better than expected.

Jr. Year
The term Junior always reminds me of a father naming his son after himself and then adding on Jr. towards the end. In an odd way I thought that I could find some "fatherly" figure in the professional realm. So I signed up for Rutgers Team-UP program, where I am given a mentor to work with. I have not met my mentor yet, but I am looking forward to updating this in 6 months from now! Hopefully the experience will be worth while and I will learn some things that I never thought of before.
I finally got into the business school!!! After months of waiting and planning, I received the news, and now I am ready to take classes that will directly impact my future. With Introduction to Marketing and some other classes planned for the Fall 2013 I will be able to move forward and be one step closer to my goal. I will continue tutoring again, and I am looking for a Fall internship that will be close to campus.
